Nurse Practitioner - Inpatient

Our Team

Longleaf Hospital is a 140-bed, inpatient behavioral health hospital in Alexandria, LA for adolescents, adults, and seniors who are experiencing emotional or behavioral problems Treatment is offered through a range of multi-disciplinary programs in a therapeutic, confidential and safe environment.  Longleaf Hospital’s purpose is to provide high-quality services that respond to individual, family, and community needs in a healing place. • Age Group/Range: Adolescents to Seniors
• Compensation: $1,000 on average, per week day DOE
• Practice Setting/Type: Inpatient
• Schedule: PRN, 0-20hr per week
• On Call: 1 weekend per month; $1500 per day

Role as Nurse Practitioner

The Nurse Practitioner provides advanced nursing care under the supervision of the Medical Director; may also be directed by Nurse Supervisor for the clinic under the state licensure guidelines for Nurse Practitioners; evaluates and monitors treatment of patients as part of a healthcare team at the clinic. May prescribe medication as allowed by state regulation.

• Provides initial and annual history and physical evaluation, assesses eligibility for treatment, evaluates patients’ history of dependence on opioids
• Orders appropriate laboratory studies, reviews laboratory results and provides necessary education, referral and / or follow up services to patients
• Monitors the treatment plans of high-risk patients
• Prescribes medication for the treatment of substance abuse according to patient need as allowed by state regulation
• Consults and collaborates with Medical Director to plan and implement care according to Nurse Practitioner Guidelines
• Reports and documents significant patient issues and adverse events
• Communicates pertinent information to appropriate members of the health care team
• Collaborates with Nurse Supervisor to optimize quality and efficiency
• Ensures that the program and employees’ transactions and activities are in full compliance with all laws and clinic legal compliance program policies and standards of conduct
• Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a practicing nurse practitioner preferred
• Previous experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings, such as outpatient, residential, or correctional facilities preferred
• Familiarity with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), including methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone
• Familiarity with state regulatory standards (e.g., 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, Joint Commission standards).
• No history of alcohol or drug misuse for a period of three years before employment

Licenses/Designations/Certifications

• Board Certified Nurse Practitioner
• Licensed to practice in the state in which the facility operates
• DEA license
